The GE GeoSpring Pro Hybrid Water Heater is one of America’s most efficient domestic hot water heaters, using 67% less energy and saving $370 to $490 per year on utility bills in a typical household of three to four people.
The GeoSpring Pro water heater combines energy-saving heat-pump technology with traditional electric elements using a fraction of the energy. The integrated compressor and evaporator use a fan to draw in ambient heat from surrounding air to heat refrigerant. Then the heated refrigerant runs through coils that wrap the tank all the way to the bottom, transferring heat into the water tank. This innovative process creates the same amount of hot water as a traditional electric water heater, while reducing your heating expenses up to 67%—a savings of up to $490 per year in a household of four, or up to $740 per year in a household of six. Plus, the GeoSpring Pro is eligible for a $300 rebate from Efficiency Maine.
Easy-to-use Control Panel
The GeoSpring electric heat pump water heater is one of the first residential electric water heaters with an electronic back-lit LCD display. With 4 modes and a vacation setting to choose from, you can start maximizing your energy savings immediately.
Multiple Settings for a Variety of Needs
Heat Pump Mode: This is the most efficient mode providing you with the greatest amount of savings. In this mode, the water heater only operates the heat pump to heat the water.
Hybrid Mode: In this setting your unit will use less energy, while still providing you with a fast recovery time. If needed, the standard electric elements may activate for a faster water temperature recovery time. Once the system determines that demand has been met, it will automatically revert back to using the heat pump only.
High Demand Mode or Boost Mode: This is the great feature when a larger water demand is needed, such as when guests are staying in your home. With the high demand mode the unit operates very similar to Hybrid mode, but with a faster recovery period. It does this by cycling on the heating elements sooner and for a longer duration of time.
Standard Mode: This feature is great for extremely cold situations (less than 35°F ambient), where heat pump functionality is less than ideal. In this mode, only the electric elements are used to heat the water.
Vacation Mode: Save energy while you’re away. This setting allows the system to drop the water heater temperature setpoint to 50°F to save energy, while also preventing the water from freezing. All you do is set the number days you will be away. The unit automatically resets, and starts to heat your water one day before your return.
